Imphal, November 21, 2009:
AMSU, MSF and KSA have alleged the government of trying to cast the class boycott stir in the wrong light and trying to subdue the agitation through coercive means.
A joint statement issued by the three students' bodies - which have been spearheading the indefinite class boycott stir - conveyed that the student bodies also know that quality education is a must to live a quality life and they want that.
But quality education could not be achieved when the house in on fire.
It stated that there could be no right to education if right to life is separated from the people.
Taking a swipe at the All Manipur Students Guardians' Association, the statement said the association has been turned into All Manipur Security Guardians'/Guards' Association.
The association which was formed initially with some agendas has now been used as a tool of the government.
Stating that the agitation launched by the students' bodies is not a separatist movement, the statement urged the educationists, academicians, intellectuals, journalists, columnists, creative minds and opinion makers to know that the agitation is to preserve democracy, to achieve right to life in order to enjoy right to education.
It stated that it would be wrong to assume that the people have turned against the agitation.
It added that the student bodies are ready to launch another intense agitation if the ongoing agitation found not to be enough.
