The revolutionary Govt of Kuki Gam/Kuki Revolutionary Army (RGOK/KRA) today observed its 1st Reformation Celebration Day at the General Head Quarter Gamnom at Lhungtin football ground at 11 am.
Former general secretary of KBC(I) Rev Y Haokip was the minister at the celebration.
Chairman, RGOK/KRA M David Hangshing hoisted the party flag while pastor DS Thangjom, Gambih Pastor, KCC said the opening prayer.
A large number of armed cadres of KRA in full uniform led by Army Chief Andy Vaiphei offered floral tributes to the photographs of departed cadres of the party at the function, and stood in silence for two minutes to pay homage to the departed souls.
Cultural programmes including music and folk dances were also presented on the occasion.
Thousands of people of Kuki tribes attended the function.
Chiefs of Kuki villages, leaders of NGOs and officials and cadres of RGOK/KRA were among those who participated in the celebration which was followed by a community feast.
A press statement from the party issued in connection with the celebration extended warm greetings "to all sections of the peace loving peoples irrespective of caste, creed or religion" on the occasion of its 1st Reformation Day, in a press release today.
The statement also expressed the deepest condolences to the departed souls of the group and other groups who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the Kuki people and their land.
The Reformation day is observed to improve the existing form of the organization to make "striking changes for the betterment in social, political, economic and other structures within the Kuki society".

The release, while acknowledging the unflinching help and support of the people, urged for continued cooperation in the group's endeavour to achieve the common goal of development and peaceful co-existence.
The Main and ultimate aim of RGOK/KRA, is to restore, safeguard and protect the ancestral land handed down over generations and to bring about reforms in the social, political, cultural and economic structures of the Kuki nation, continued the statement.
Pointing out factionalism, disunity and nepotism as hindrances in the struggle to stand as one nation, The RGOK/KRA appealed to the people to join hands and collectively fight for the political rights of self-determination.
Quoting Mao tse-tung, "A well discipline organization using he method of self-criticism and liked with the masses of the people, an army under the leadership of the organization a united front for all revolutionary classes under the organization are the weapon with which we have to defeat enemy", the RGOK/KRA in conclusion, called for "introspection and retrospection for all revolutionary movements to chalk out measures to upholdand strengthen the values and principles of multiculturalism, mutual co-existence and fraternity in the land".
