Normal life in Tamenglong has been paralysed since the first week of December last year as the power transformer that supplied electricity to Tamenglong Ward No IIIModel Village and Ward No IVGadailong and other parts broke down due to power overload.
The people have been peeved with the failure of Power Department to replace or repair broken down transformer till date.
The power transformer located at Gadai Bazaar (Medical Gate) Tamenglong was reported to have broken down on 13 December last year.
Till today the department failed to replace or repair and provide alternative power supply to the two biggest wards including the VIP lines.
This power transformer covered District Hospital, BSNL micro wave, official bungalows, institutions and other important Government and NGO offices.
In the meantime, a reliable resource informed that BSNL Tamenglong have a plan to install GSM (Global Mobile Service) and expand the services to the people living here at Tamenglong.
However, due to lack of power in the area, the BSNL authority could not take up the works immediately, the source said.
Due to power cut off for many days the people have been facing untold hardships.
Ph Khiaklung proprietor of blacksmith and Naga Script Centre Tamenglong said that due to lack of power all machinery as well as printing works for the learners have been lying defunct since last year.
The power shortage has also been causing serious inconveniences to many students who are preparing for board exams.
"Due to power cut off I did not know world news and darkness have caused me many inconveniences", stated Joseph Daimei, former Zeliangrong Student Union Tamenglong district.
In the meantime, it is also learnt that the officials of the electricity department were out of the station.
As of now people living at the two wards are trying to make electricity connection from other live transformer, which may damage the other power transformer.
