Imphal, November 10:
Insisting on compulsory incorporation of three years' minimum experience in Meetei Mayek in the recruitment RR of primary teachers, MEELAL has appealed to the people to study the alleged wrong initiative of the Education Minister, Education Commissioner and the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and to make their own judgements.
A statement issued by MEELAL contended that as its sounds absurd for a person to be appointed the Advocate General and later taught Law, it is quite ridiculous to appoint Meetei Mayek illiterate primary teachers and to impart training on the script later.
Saying that the ongoing agitation of MEELAL is not for itself but for the whole people of the State and to bring quality education, it disclosed that even as its Finance secy Thakaba alias Ibomcha and secy administration Naokhomba have been arrested, there are thousands and thousands of MEELAL volunteers.
It further asserted that it would be more correct for State police to nab Education Minister, Education Commissioner and BSEM officials for deliberately attempting to subdue the indigenous script which had been introduced by the Chief Minister in schools.
