The Development Committee, Northern Mao (Senapati district) has reminded the Chief Engineer of PHED to implement an earlier agreement to unload pipes for the NLCPR funded Mao Water Supply Scheme at Mao.
Informing that representatives of the Committee and the Chief Engineer had met on June 13 this year during which the PHED official had endorsed the Committee's proposal for unloading the pipes at near the scheme site, the body comprising of nine villages in northern Mao observed that in violation of the agreement the Scheme material are being transported to Imphal.
In between July 4 to 10, 26 truck load of pipes have crossed Mao towards Imphal, said the Committee and asserted that such breach of agreement indicate ulterior motive.
Informing that civil work component of the Water Supply Scheme is almost complete and the DI/GI pipes required immediately, the Committee further expressed strong resentment that even after 16 weeks of formal intimation to the Dept authority no positive action had been visible.
It further lamented that PHE Minister, Chief Secretary and Executive Engineer (PHED), Senapati Division had already been apprised of the matter but no action had been taken yet.
Cautioning the State and Dept authorities to do the needful within seven days time for unloading the said pipes at Mao to minimise transport cost of reloading and transportation of the materials from Imphal, the Committee said it would be constrained to mobilise public support for launching various agitation on the issue.
