Imphal, July 27:
The KSO Ghqs, during an emergency meeting held today, has decried the eviction notice reportedly served to inhabitants to Phaipijang village, situated at Langol foothills.
Taking strong exception to the Government's plan to acquire 300 acres of land to pave way for establishment of National Institute of Technology at the cost of 6 High Schools, 4 orphanages, 10 religious establishments, 317 houses and total population of 1860, the KSO demanded immediate withdrawal of the eviction notice.
A press release issued by the student body asserted that the State Govt should shift its plan elsewhere where there is ample space for establishment of the proposed NIT.
Disclosing that it is prepared to face any eventuality resulting from the anti-people policy of the SPF Government, the KSO mulled establishment of NIT outside Imphal city.
It further noted that majority of the residents of Phaipijang village are displaced people who were evicted from Chikim Veng and Doupao Veng near Palace Compound in 1990s, the KSO conveyed its support to the demand of CDSU to establish the NIT in Churachandpur.
