Bar association to cease Court works

Expressing reservations over the alleged inadequacy of rooms and other facilities at newly constructed High Court complex at Chingmeirong, High Court Bar Association has decided to abstain from attending Court works from tomorrow.
The resolution was taken in an executive committee meeting of the association held today.
Prior to the meeting, the members of the Bar visited the new High Court complex, said a press release.
The meeting took serious note that there were serious irregularities and lapses on the part of the Registry of the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench.
Alleging that the Registry failed to make necessary proposals for different office premises at the new complex, the association demanded for immediate replacement of the incumbent Registrar.
The association also decided to press the authority concerned to allot Block D, D-I and E in the ground floor of the new building to Ld AG, GAs and High Court Bar Association.
The meeting also resolved to demand the two buildings out of the six constructed buildings as the office premises of the GAs for maintaining their offices along with their ministerial staff.
The executive committee meeting also urged the authority concerned to take the association into confidence before giving finishing touch of the Bar rooms.
The meeting also demanded for adequate AC facilities in all the rooms of the Bar,
GAs, Ld AG .
