Demanding unconditional release of TIPS secretary general L Umakanta Meetei and secretary publicity Y Langamba Meetei immediately, Man League, Manipur and Eastern Radiant Organisation, Old Checkon Bazar have categorically stated that prolonged detention of the two human rights activists would only invite the wrath of the people.
In a statement, publicity and information secretary of Man League, Manipur S Sachi said that arrest of the two human rights activists who were crying for justice in connection with the bomb blast at ISKCON by the security forces is direct affront to the rights of the people.
It has also shown that the security forces are also indulging in blatant violation of human rights in Manipur, it added.
In another statement, information and publicity secretary of Eastern Radiant Organisation W Rabi contended that security personnel who arrested the TIPS activists should be first booked under National Security Act for having violated all democratic norms.
