As observed in other parts of the State, the 75th death anniversary of pioneer Naga freedom fighter haipou Jadonang (1905-1931) was held at his birth place Puiluan (Kambiron) village in Tamenglong district on August 29, according to a delayed report.
A statement issued by the Central Organising Committee, Zeliangrong Union (Assam, manipur & Nagaland) said the historic observance was graced by presidents of Naga Hoho Bendangmayang Jamir and United Naga Council, Manipur KS Paul Leo as the chief guest and president respectively.
Among others MLAs Samuel Jendai, Henry Paotei and ex-MLA Gangmumei Kamei also graced the occasion which was marked by the unveiling of the commemorative monument installed in honour of the freedom fighter, Jadonang Parade displayed by members of Puiluan Youth Club and presentation of the welcome dance (Gaan Laam) by the Rongdai Youth Club.
The crowd during the observation were enthralled by the energetic performances of Jiangam Kamei and Alvina Gonson, said the ZU release.
Recounting childhood memories of haipou Jadonang as told by his parents, Bendangmayang Jamir called upon the Naga people to actively participate in the ongoing peace process and to strengthen while reminding that Nagas' unification and solution of the indo-Naga talks needed full cooperation of the people.
In his address, Paul Leo also stressed on the need of the Naga people to uphold the cause of the Naga Raj and strengthen the peace process.
The welcome address was delivered by the ZU (AM&N) president D Dikambui.
