Imphal, June 28 2009:
The Movement for Tribal People's Rights Manipur (MTPRM) has urged upon the State Government to release the Multi Sectoral Development Plan (MSDP) fund for 2008-09 to the DRDA immediately.
A press release issued by the MTPRM alleged that the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister held up the fund on the pretext of election code of conduct.
Even as the election was election was over, the State Government has not released the fund yet.
It further decried that the alleged plan and policy of the Directorate of MOBC to implement the fund in total violation of the guidelines of the Government of India is an attempt to hijack the money without giving benefit to the genuine and deserving people.
The MTPRM also sought intervention of the Chief Minister to address the problem.
In case the State Government fails to do the needful, the MTPRM may be compelled to take up the matter with the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.
