Imphal, August 23:
The Chandel district unit of Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) has imposed indefinite bandh along Imphal-Moreh road with effect from 6 am tomorrow.
The Unit president said the decision to go ahead with imposition of indefinite bandh along NH-39 on the Imphal-Moreh route has been adopted in view of failure of the State Govt to look after the deplorable condition of the road stretch and unwarranted hike in fare levied by the transporters.
A memorandum highlighting grievances of the people especially those residing on either sides of the National Highway due to deplorable condition of the road, and non-adherence to safety norms and hike in fare charge arbitrarily by the transporter had already been submitted to the Transport Minister but so far no action has been taken up, the
student leader lamented.
No vehicle would be allowed to ply on the road.
However, essential services like electricity, water supply, religious function, educational institutions and media would be exempted from the purview of the bandh, the KSO functionary maintained.
