For effective co-ordination of border management activities, the 36th Myanmar-India Liaison meeting was organised by Hqs IGAR (South) Assam Rifles under the aegis of Hqs 3 Corps today at the IGAR headquarters at Mantripukhri today.
In a statement, PRO of Assam Rifles said that to attend the meeting a 15 member team from the Government of Myanmar led by Brig Gen Tin Maung ohn, Dy Cdr NWC, arrived at Moreh yesterday at 8 am and were received by the CO of 26 Sector AR.
During the meeting held today at Mantripukhri, the 17 Indian Army team was led by IGAR Maj Gen AK Choudhury, said the statement and added that representatives from both sides interacted and discussed means to co-ordinate border management activities.
The meeting also gave an opportunity to all the delegates to know each other personally and help in further strengthening the bond of friendship between the two countries.
The team from Myanmar will leave for Kolkata tomorrow and they will return to Mantripukhri on May 29 form where they will leave for Myanmar.
