A two day educational programme called 'Innovention 2010: Scripting Future' has been inaugurated by the Education Minister L Jayentakumar Singh at GM Hall today.
Inaugural session of the programme, which is an event organised by X-tremewave, Khoyathong was also attended by director of the event host Dr Kh Khamba and (Retd) Director of Arts and Culture (Govt of Manipur) Dr Kh Sorojini Devi as president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Education Minister noted with technological advancement and its application in education spurring the race for academic excellence to the highest level there is no room for laxity for both students and teachers in the State.

Calling upon the teacher community to gear themselves up for the new challenges and discharge duty with diligence and sincerity, Jayentakumar also reiterated that under the Sarva Shiksa Abhiyan scheme free and compulsory education would be ensured upto class VIII standard.
While asserting that study materials would be provided to students under the SSA programme, the Minister however remarked that such a provision would not be at random as certain criteria would be applied to benefit meritorious students.
He also stressed on the need for promoting computer education in the State taking into account its relevance in the present age.
The Minister appealed to all concerned not to misuse funds meant for development of education in the State.
Presenting the presidential speech, X-tremeWave director Dr Khamba highlighted that objective for organising Innovention is to provide a common platform and create an environment for exchange of knowledge among students of the region.
He also said X-tremeWave was set up with an agenda for promoting skills of the students in their respectively area of choice such as sports, art and culture and to encourage healthy competition amongst the student.
Competitions in singing, quiz and entertainment programmes along with honouring of eminent figures of Manipur would be the main highlight of the event tomorrow.
