A one-day Constituency level behaviour, change and communication on HIV/AIDS was organised under the aegis of Manipur Legislators' Forum on HIV/AIDS (MLFA) at Irabot Memorial Hall, Challou under Lamlai Assembly Constituency today.
Speaker in charge of Manipur Legislative Assembly and chairman of MLFA Th Lokeshore Singh, Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ph Parijat Singh and MLA of Sekmai A/C and treasurer of MLFA Dr H Borajao attended the programme as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Delivering the key note address, State Co-ordinator of UNAIDS Sushil Huidrom observed that people in Manipur need to know more about HIV/AIDS in the present situation.
We need to spread more awareness on HIV/AIDS and let the people to lead healthy and beautiful life, Sushil said, while stressing on the need of the elected representatives for taking pro-active role in the ongoing campaign against HIV/AIDS.
Speaking as a resource person, Joint Director of MACS Abhiram Mongjam explained that today HIV/AIDS infected/affected people can continue to lead a normal and healthy life by taking ART medication.
In their respective addresses, Speaker in-charge Lokeshore and Minister Parijat observed that campaign against HIV/AIDS can be successful only with the support of the people and NGOs.
