Imphal, October 05:
Categorically denying reported participation of one Kotoi Lamkang in the public session on Plebiscite at Wabagai Lamkhai bazar held on October 3, Purum Pantha Village Authority (Chandel) clarified that Kotoi had neither intended to join the programme nor is he the village authority chairman as reported in this daily (October 4).Kotoi was in Wabagai Bazar to sell firewood at the opportune moment when the programme organisers made arrangements for his (Kotoi) participation, maintained the village authority while appealing to all concerned against such conduct in the future.
Meanwhile, Kotoi Lamkang making similar denial said he was unaware of the meeting being proposed in the said site nor had he intended to take part in it.
Kotoi expressed resentment that his name has been unnecessarily dragged into the matter and regretted the entire episode.
Bandh decried: Describing the proposed 48 hour bandh call of three organisations as unjustifiable and politically motivated People Organisation for Civil Integrity & Liberty, Heirok called upon all concerned to desist from such conduct until the issue is very serious.
The allegations levelled against Phungzathang Tonsing by ATPO, Zeliangrong Youth Front, Naga Students Union Chandel and Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong is questionable and ill-timed as Phungzathang had been holding the Tribal Development portfolio for the last many years.
Why had not similar demand for resignation of the TD Minister made in the past, said the Heirok body while mulling that solution to the grievances of the student organisations could be found without relying on bandh or blockade.
