Imphal, October 05:
On the occasion of World Teachers Day celebration, representatives of All Manipur College Teachers Association, Manipur highlighted various issues besieging collegiate education in Manipur.
Addressing a press conference in consonance with the celebration today at Manipur College, AMCTA president P Laingam Singh and general secretary E Iboyaima said despite the pressing need for quality education in Manipur, no serious efforts are being made in this regard.
With great concern for the development of college education in Manipur, the college teachers have been asking fulfillment of a 15-charter demand for the last 4/5 years, they echoed.
But instead of listening to the demands, the Government has been targeting the teaching community even to the extend of relinquishing from service, they alleged while contending that the Government has been attempting to drive wedge among the teachers.
Meanwhile, the North Eastern Boys' Scout & Girls Guide Association Koirengei also informed of celebrating world teachers' day.
The celebration function presided by social worker Phijam Pakchao Singh was also attended by several number of scouts, guides, guardians and invitees.
