Imphal, January 22:
Inaugurating a 33/11 KV sub-power station at Moreh in Chandel district today, Power Minister Gaikhangam has appealed to the people to pay off their electricity bills in time.
Speaking at the function as chief guest, Gaikhangam hoped that the newly inaugurated power station would benefit 22 villages located in and around Moreh and the problem of non-availability of power supply by people living in these areas would become a thing of the past.
However, to ensure effective functioning of the Electricity Department, people should cultivate the habit of paying off their power bills regularly and in time, he added.
In his address, PHE Minister Govindas Konthoujam who presided over the function, noted that to ensure that the people of the areas could reap the benefit of the newly inaugurated sub-power station, it should be guarded against the destructive activities of anti-social elements.
People should not entrust this task only to the Government, but they should also contribute their mite in keeping the sub-power station safe and functional all the time, he pointed out.
