Imphal, August 30:
After establishing his innocence in the corrupt practices within the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM), the proscribed outfit KYKL has released the Secretary in-charge of the Board Lairenlakpam Rajmohon from its custody safe and sound today.
Along with former Secretary in-charge of the Board Phurailatpam Nandakumar, who is already under suspension, Rajmohon was picked up by the special task force of Operation New Kangleipak (ONK) for questioning in connection with cases of corruption and bribery in the functioning of the Board a few days earlier.
While Nandakumar had been punished with a bullet on his left knee cap for his involvement in these cases on August 28, Rajmohon was released safely today as nothing could be established on his direct involvement.
Nonetheless, a spokesperson of the ONK said the outfit would continue its investigation until the Board has been thoroughly cleansed of its rot and if Rajmohon or any of the other staff of the Board were found involved in the cases they should be ready to accept any sort of punishment given to them.
Parading Rajmohon in front of mediapersons before his release somewhere in valley district this afternoon, the spokesperson explained that holding Rajmohon a captive along with Nandakumar was necessary for interrogation.
During the course of interrogation, involvement of Nandakumar directly in various cases of corruption, bribery and flouting the rules and regulations of the Board came into light and subsequently he was punished with a bullet on his left knee cap.
However, nothing could be establishment on the direct involvement of Rajmohon in these cases.
So he would be handed over to his family members safe and sound, the spokesperson informed.
The spokesperson appealed to the people to report to the outfit if they know anything about the case since it would continue with the investigation seriously.
So in case the involvement of Rajmohon or any other staff of the Board come to light during the course of further investigation, they should to accept any punishment given to them by the outfit.
Speaking to mediapersons, Rajmohon appreciated the efforts of the Operation New Kangleipak of the outfit and said it is for the betterment of the education system and the society at large.
He also pledged to dedicate himself in working toward restoring the faith of the people on the Board.
