Of late the people living in the interior areas of Manipur hills have come to gain some knowledge on the HIV/AIDS, thanks to the various NGOs and concerned authorities.
One such organisation taking up the cause is the World Vision.
A two-day seminar on HIV/AIDS was concluded on August 18 held at Gangpijang village under Saikul sub-division organised by an NGO called Galngam Self Help Group (SHG) and the event was sponsored by World Vision, Sardar Hills Area Development Programme.

Large number of villagers turned up and participated in the two-day programme where a lesson on preventing and managing the dreaded HIV/AIDS was discussed.
The event kick-started on August 17 and the resource persons in the seminar were Dr S Mani Singh who is the Senior Medical Officer of Sagolmang (CHC), Hemkanta who is the Co-Ordinator of Manipur Network Positive (MNP +) and L.Michael Singh who is the Community Development Co-Ordinator of World Vision, Sardar Hills Area Development Programme.
Important features of the seminar were questions session and the mass interactions.
Dr Mani Singh dwelt on how HIV/AIDS can be managed and prevented, L.Michael led the interaction session while Hemkanta Singh spoke on the use of medicines and to deal the HIV/AIDS.
The villagers responded in good note on this kind of seminars and thanked the organisers, resource persons and the sponsors.
Painting compt on HIV/AIDS (By Our Staff Reporter) : A painting competition under the theme of' HIV/AIDS Vision' for students studying in class IV to X including those living with HIV was organised under the aegis of Nawa Leikol at Manipur Press Club here today.
Divided into two categories, around 200 students competed in the category-A comprising of class IV to VI and around 50 students in category-B for class VII to X.Ricardo, a student of class V in Maria Montesorri, Krishna Thoudam, a student of class V in Sishu Nistha Niketan and Oinam Tulshitra of Kiddies''' Corner High School secured first, second and third position in the category-A while in category-B, Rimita Aribam (class X) of Brighter Academy, New Checkon secured the first position, L Amarjit (Class VII) of Maria Montessori School secured the second position while Chelsea, also studying in class VII of Maria Montessori secured the third position.
Ten students from each of the two categories have also been selected for the consolation prizes.
The prizes of the competition would be presented on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of Nawa Leikol which would be celebrated on August 30 at GM Hall here.
