The identity of the man shot dead last night at Yubraj Palli in Imphal East district by a combined team of Imphal East commandos and troops of 32 AR has been identified as one Senjam Bikram (28) s/o Dhananjoy of Nongren.
It is reported that Bikram went out from home driving a car (Alto) yesterday morning at about 8 am to buy a vehicle.
Bikram was a married man having a son and a daughter.
Family members informed that they talked with Bikram through mobile phones at about 7.30 last night.
They said that Bikram was not a cadre of any UG group nor did he work for them at any point of time.
Bikram's father Dhananjoy is a candidate of the forthcoming Panchayat elections and the vehicle he was supposed to buy was meant for use in electioneering.
The corpse has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS today.
Body recovered: The body of the man who got drowned near Sekmaijing bridge in Imphal river and carried away by current yesterday was recovered from near Ithai Barrage under Kumbi police station today at about 8 am.
The body has been retrieved by police and deposited at RIMS mortuary.
The outward appearance of the partially decomposed body does not bear any injury mark.
The deceased was found wearing a black pant but without a shirt.
The identity cannot be established till the time of filing this report.
