Amidst report of arrival of a highly ranked Indian Army official to discuss on the Sajik Tampak onslaught the Army authorities have decided to intensify the ongoing offensive.
Talking to The Sangai Express, an Indian Army official preferring to remain anonymous informed that Dimapur based 3 Corps Commander Lt Gen Daljit arrived at Leimakhong to assess the present situation at Sajik Tampak and to discuss on strategies to flush out insurgent outfits from their stronghold.
Soon after arrival at the 57 Mountain Division headquarters at Leimakhong from Dimapur this morning in an Army chopper Lt Gen Daljit was engaged in a meeting with 10 Sector Commander Brigadier R Singh and 9 Sector Commander Brig EJ Kochekkan.
Terming the ongoing conflict as only the beginning the Army official stated that more concerted attacks would be launched to establish a permanent Army post at Sajik Tampak by dislodging the underground organizations' camp at the area.
The operation being conducted with strong instructions from the Centre has not only met with stiff resistance from the underground activists but has also infected two personnel with viral fever, informed the official adding both the persons have been airlifted to the newly opened Army camp at Sugnu.
According to a delayed report four Indian Army personnel suffered injuries some days back but all are stated to be out of danger.
The onslaught involves combined force of Sikh Light Infantry, Madras Regiment and Kumaon Regiment personnel with the Assam Rifles battalion located at Pallel acting as the command centre.
Some section of the 33rd and 37th AR are also engaged in the Sajik Tampak operation.
The combined force are continuously shelling and firing at suspected hideouts of the UGs while strict checking is conducted in all the passenger and goods carrier heading towards the conflict area.
It is pertinent to add that Army personnel have" established check post along the route to restrict movement of underground members as well as plug possible supply routes of rations for the UGs.
Due to the ongoing conflict villagers of about three villages in the interior area have fled their homes and taken refuge at safer places near Sajik Tampak.
