The STD lines and mobile phones, which went down since April 18 were finally restored today at around noon by BSNL engineers who have been working non-stop for two and a half days.
Engineers from the state were complemented by Distance transmission engineers from Shillong and Kolkata to have communications restored.
According to BSNL, Mizoram, authorities, lightning had damaged the microwave system at Bualpui on national highway 54 between Aizawl and Silchar.
The unavailability of STD and teleprinter services had greatly affected the MP elections held in the state on April 20 with both state authorities and media persons facing news blackout.
The newspaper community was the worst hit of the unavailability of communication services and some newspapers were forced to come out with single sheets only.
