As in other part of the World, the World Veterinary Day was observed in the State today.
The observance function was held under the aegis of State Directorate of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry at the State Guest House here.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Director of Health Services Dr Ch Chandramani Singh stressed on the need for co-ordination between Veterinary Department and Public Health Engineering Department or the Medical Department as all these Departments are related to the health of living being.He also pointed out that Veterinary Department played a pivotal role in improving the economic condition of the State.
In his presidential address, Directorate of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services Dr S Joykumar Singh maintained that scope of the veterinary should be broadened in view of the health-related problems that might be caused to human beings from animals.
It is also been the one of the main concerned of the Veterinary Department to prevent spread of diseases animal to human being and vice-versa, Joykumar said informing that the Department is planning to observe World Veterinary Day in a big way from coming years to spread the awareness among the people.
A seminar on Zoonotic diseases was also organized on the occasion World Veterinary Day today.
In the first technical session, Retd Additional Director of Public Health Dr N Sukumar Singh was the chairman and four resource persons read out their papers.
In the second technical session retd Head of Department of Community Medicine, RIMS Prof E Yaima Singh was the chairman and three resource persons presented their papers on the topics.
The World Veterinary Day was also observed under the joint auspice s of United Kennel Club of Manipur and Unemployed Veterinary Doctors Association, Manipur at Dog Care Centre, Pureiromba Khongnangmakhong, Palace Gate today.
