A civilian sustained bullet injury when a Bishnupur police commando accidentally pulled the trigger of his AK-47 Rifles at Bishnupur Bazar at around 9.30 am today.
The victim has been identified as Lourembam Sanjoy (35) of Bishnupur Ward no.4, who runs a Pan Dukhan at Bishnupur Bazar while the commando is named as Dinesh.
According to report, a Bishnupur police commando team stopped their vehicle at Bishnupur Bazar and two of the personnel who alighted from the vehicle were walking along when they met one of their acquaintances.
While talking to their acquaintance one of the personnel accidentally pressed at the trigger of his AK-47 Rifles slung down from his shoulder firing around four bullets in the process.
L Sanjoy was walking down the road at the opportune time and hit by a bullet which pierced through his left knee.
He is presently undergoing treatment at the Ortho ward of RIMS Hospital.
The victim has also admitted that the bullet which hit him had been accidentally fired off by the Commandos.
