Imphal, March 07:
1999 Hindi Graduate Teachers DPC Successful Candidates' Co-ordinating Committee, Manipur has flayed remarks of Education Minister on the floor of Assembly on March 3 stating that 146 posts of Hindi graduate teachers could not be appointed as the Central Government stopped releasing the fund after the XI plan period and subsequently the said posts have been abolished.
In a statement, Committee chairman Rajkumar Kheroda said the remarks of the Education Minister which was reported on All India Radio and the local newspapers was very unfortunate and intended to mislead the House and the people.
The Committee had already submitted an application to the authorities concerned demanding a white paper on the issue.
But as the authorities concerned of the State Govt failed to furnish the white paper even after 40 days (as per the Rights to Information Act) of having submitted the application, the aggrieved Hindi Graduate teachers had taken recourse to the legal assistance and filed a case in the Gauhati High Court.
Though the Government of Manipur had pleaded for giving ten days time, the Court had given only a week.
Even then the Government failed to provided the necessary white paper and pleaded the Court once more for giving another four weeks time which was subsequently granted.
However, during this period the Education Minister went ahead stating that the posts have been abolished, the Committee rued.
The Committee further asserted that the utilisation certificate of the fund released for 484 posts of Hindi Graduate Teachers including the 146 posts which are inseparable had been submitted by the State Government to the Centre during the IX plan itself.
Moreover, there are many valid reasons that the said posts can not be abolished at all, the Committee statement noted.
