An amount of Rs 18,700 collected from three teachers as penalty for dereliction of duty by AMSU has been handed to the school authorities of Sandangsenba UJB School located at Ngarian Hill range.
President of the student body S Prakash formally handed over the said amount to the school headmaster Merang Moba today in the presence of village authority members to use for student welfare purposes.
The student body is informed to have penalised the three teachers for prolong absence of over one and half years but were found still drawing their monthly salaries regularly.
the matter came to light following complaints from the local authorities and the charges were authenticated when volunteers of AMSU Imphal East investigated.
The three teachers have been identified as Chungkham Prakash of Wangkhei Puja Lampak who was serving as headmaster of the said school, assistant teacher Sinam Shantakumar and one JS Kumari of Thangjingpokpi employed in the school as mother.
In his brief speech on the occasion, S Prakash referring to destruction of the school building in a natural disaster some times back prevailed upon authority concerned to repair the building at the earliest.
