To spread awareness on the issue of HIV/AIDS and to strengthen community support towards the Targeted Intervention programme in creating an enabling environment for the clients and service providers, a one-day advocacy programme was held at Khabam Lamkhai today.
The advocacy programme was organised by the Rapid Intervention and Care (RIAC) Project of Integrated Women and Children Development Centre (IWCDC), Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai in collaboration with North Imphal Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Khabam Lamkhai.
Participating in the programme as a resource person, District AIDS Officer of Imphal West District Dr LK Laksana delivered talk on the present scenario of HIV/AIDS giving stress on the positive role of the parents in restraining the youth from getting into the habit of drug abuse.
He also interacted with the participants and expressed worry over the spread of HIV/AIDS among the general population.
RIAC staff like U Dharmendra, T Sekhasana, W Geeta, Praveen Nongmaithem, etc also spoke on the issue related to the aims and objective of the Targeted Intervention programme, available services, role of stakeholders in dealing with the issue, etc.
Altogether 30 Meira Paibi leaders who belong to different groups attended the programme presided by president of North Imphal Apunba Meira Paibi Lup W Bormani and resolved to join hands in the intervention and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
