Imphal, August 11:
In view of the various development projects already proposed for Tamenglong district, many Zeliangrong bodies have made fervent appeal to the Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur (ZSUM) to suspend its ongoing agitation of sealing Government offices in Tamenglong district and to bring an amicable solution with the district administration.
Speaking to reporters today, leaders of the Zeliangrong Union Tamei Zone, ZU Tamenglong Zone, ZYF Tamenglong Zone, ZYF Nungba zone and Village Authority Chairmen's Council appealed to the ZSUM to call off their stir taking into account assurances and initiatives of some Ministers to take up various development projects in Tamenglong district.
While appreciating FCS Minister Y Erabot and Works Minister K Ranjit for their personal inspection tour of the existing condition of infrastructure in the district recently, the Zeliangrong leaders urged upon the Ministers to keep their words and to fulfil their assurances at the earliest possible time.
They also appealed to the people to extend cooperation in all the development initiatives taken up by the State Government.
Even though they hailed the initiative of FCS Minister to build an FCS godown at Noney, the Zeliangrong representatives, nevertheless opined that the FCS godown may be constructed at Tamenglong district hqs for it is the centre of the entire district.
They further claimed that there many people ready to donate land large enough for the proposed godown at Tamenglong district hqs.
The FCS Minister turned to Noney with the impression that there was no land for the godown at the district hqs due to some misunderstanding/communication gap among the people, clarified the Zeliangrong leaders.
Conveying gratitude to Works Minister K Ranjit for announcing a package for development of Tamenglong district, they insisted that the proposed development work of the Keiphundai-Tousem road and Tamei-Tamenglong road at the cost of Rs 9 crores each under SPA be entrusted to PWD instead of handing over to BRO or DRDA.
However, the Zeliangrong representatives maintained that the development work of the Tamenglong-Haflong road be entrusted to BRO.
