After pulling up two persons who were trying to get project works from Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS) in the name of NSCN (I-M), two more persons involved in the case surrendered to the UNLF, a spokesperson of the central special force (CSF) of the proscribed outfit informed.
The latest duo confessed to their involvement in the case after two accused persons had surrendered to the outfit yesterday and were paraded before mediapersons, said the CSF spokesperson who recalled identity of the previous individuals as Naorem Roben (26) of Yairipok Top Kuthabi and Senjam Deben (26) of Yairipok Chingtha.
During the course of interrogating Roben and Deben, involvement of Kshetrimayum Bhogen (24) s/o Ksh Mohendro of Angtha Mamang Leikai and Kshetrimayum Ratan (26) of Nongpok Keithel Manbi Laikhong in the case was established.
They were asked to surrender and did so today, the spokesperson said.
According to Bhogen, he made friend with one George alias Peter of Ukhrul while studying in Imphal College.
Father of George identified as Franky is a person working in the finance section of NSCN (I-M).
Consequently, on the basis of a letter written by Franky, they applied for getting 20 projects of Rs 7000 each from MACS.
Besides this they tried to misuse the name of NSCN (I-M) in connection with issuing a cheque amount of Rs 9 lakh from PWD, Chandel.
However, it did not materialise and he did not pursue the matter any further.
Bhogen further disclosed that after finalising the projects, 10 would be given to NSCN (I-M) and the remaining handled by them following which Roben went to MACS office pretending himself to be an activist of the NSCN (I-M) and he telephoned to settle the matter.
The idea of getting projects from MACS was introduced by Ratan and they decided to work together.
The spokesperson said UNLF is very serious about the case as such activities might have serious social implication.
However, since Bhogen and Ratan surrendered to the outfit, they will be handed over to their families after giving necessary advise and warning against such activities in future.
In case they do not heed to the warning and continue with such activities then the party might be constraint to award capital punishment, the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, in a statement, secretary of Yairipok Bishnunahabased Loyalam Foundation K Kaminikumar said it is very unfortunate that Roben and Deben misuse the name of the NGO in trying to get projects from MACS.
Both of them prevailed upon to sign the application by assuring that the Director and other top officials of MACS are their friends.
Over and above this, they have also collected written applications from Youth Development Association based at Yairipok Bazar and Eastern Pioneer Co-operative Society based at Yairipok Top Chingtha, Kaminikumar disclosed.
