Imphal, November 22:
Reacting strongly to a statement purportedly made by IGAR Maj Gen SS Kumar during a function at St Mary School, Khazama on November 19, the Government of the Peoples Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) has stated that the Major General should not undermine the Naga people and its general secretary of NSCN, Th Muivah.
In a statement, the ministry of information and publicity of the outfit asserted that the Naga people had already taken the decision that the will of the people shall ultimately prevail for any continuity or non-continuity of the ceasefire with the Government of India during the 5th consultative meeting held at Bangkok on September 6, 2005.The mass-based civil societies, NGOs and Church leaders have already given their opinion to both NSCN leaders and the Government of India and Muivah spoke for the people, the statement said.
The statement signed by secretary of the ministry, Saheni further charged the Assam Rifles was playing a dubious role and waging war against the NSCN in the form of Khaplang group and NNC/FGN and providing security cover to these elements within the proximity of their camps.
We know that Assam Rifles are really prepared to face any eventuality for more than 50 years and yet there is no solution.
The NSCN do not threaten or warn anybody but would adopt security strategy and is prepared for the worst, the statement.
As the two entities, the NSCN and the Government of India are having bilateral ceasefire whereas with the Khaplang group it is only a unilateral ceasefire within the ambit of Indian Constitution, the statement maintained, adding that NSCN has been strictly adhering to the ground rules but more than hundred NSCN cadres have been shot dead by the India armed forces during the ceasefire period.
