Imphal, January 18: Personnel of 1st Assam Rifles based at Chassad in Ukhrul district saved the lives of nine passengers including two women and one child, when the jeep in which they were travelling met with an accident at Phungyar sub-division on January 16 at about 4 pm.

In a statement, PIB Defence Wing said that the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled down 25-30 metres down a slope.

Two of the passengers were unconscious and one woman suffered critical head injury, said the statement and added that on receiving reports about the accident, the AR personnel rushed to the site with nursing assistant in their ambulance.

The critically injured were evacuated to RIMS hospital the same day, said the statement and added the injured persons hail from Nunge village.
