Moreh, October 25:
Two women were injured when a powerful bomb planted by suspected militants exploded near a transformer of the Electricity Department at Moreh Heinoumakhong Leikai today at about 5.20 am.
The bomb went off after troops of 22 Assam Rifles who were on ROP duty on NH-39 had crossed the spot.
Sources said that the bomb might have been activated through a remote control.
The two women injured in the bomb blast are identified as Nengjahat Vaiphei (40) wife of Paothang Baite and Wahchin (36) wife of Holkhai Mate.
Both are residents of Lhangnom Veng in Moreh ward number 9.Bomb shrapnels grazed the left eye brow of Nengjahat.
Both the women are said to be out of danger.
On October 21 too troops of 24 Assam Rifles detected five bombs planted near their post at Khudengthabi.
Meanwhile a meeting of all communities living in Moreh was held today wherein the bomb explosion was strongly condemned.
During the meeting held at Hawa Mahal, many resolutions were adopted besides extending their solidarity to the sufferings of the two injured women.
The meeting also asked the concerned to clarify on the blast at the earliest.
The meeting was attended by representatives of All Community Forum, Moreh, Kha-Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Moreh, Kuki Human Union on Human Rights, Minority Women Development Society, Moreh ECT.
In a statement Social Development Youth Club, Moreh while condemning the blast asked the responsible group to clarify on the blast.
It added that the blast which occured in a crowded place caused immense hardships to the people and create fear psychosis among the various communities living in Moreh.
