Imphal, July 08:
In line with the Government's recent decision to shift the IRB headquarters to the hill districts of the State, the hunt for a suitable place to locate the 1st Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) in Churachandpur continues but so far no decision has been taken on where they will be housed, sources said.
A high level police official team led by Y Joykumar Addl DPG also visited Lamka today with the aim to zero in on the appropriate location.
The police team which included P Doungel DIG-AP, MA Rahman DIG-III and Chandra Kishore CO 1st IRB visited Tuibong, Kumbi Pukhri, Mata and Salbung and met the district level officials.
Independent sources also added that the feeling of acrimony that the general public harbours against the IRB in general is adding to the problem.
Even though there was a proposal to keep the IRB at Mata village, about eight kilometres from here near Khuga Dam, the proposal has reportedly been shot down for the time being for various reasons.
