Having demanded and got its pound of flesh by way of two berths in the pruned Ministry, the CPI today made it clear that it will not accept portfolios given to them without necessary consultations.
Speaking to the media at Irabot Bhawan today, CPI Control Commission Chairman, Moirangthem Ibohal said that it would be in the fitness of things for the Steering Committee of the SPF to meet before the portfolios of the new Ministers are announced.
The CPI will not accept any portfolios handed out to them, without any consultation, said Ibohal.
The CPI leader said that running the FCS Department is a tough job and if it is given to the CPI again, there will be a rethink.
To a question on whether the CPI had demanded any political appointments, Ibohal said that before the downsizing was effected, the CPI had conveyed to the SPF partners that it deserves two berths in the Ministry and one political appointment.
As such the party will try to wrest a political appointment for one of the CPI MLAs.
On the charges raised by the CPI (C) Sympathizer Committee, Ibohal said that Dr M Nara has been absorbed into the party's organization so that he can devote more time to the functioning of the party and work more closer with the people.
This move was taken up as it had become evident that the track record of Dr Nara is impeccable.
Giving a clean chit to Dr Nara, Ibohal said that the non inclusion of Dr Nara in the pruned Ministry should not be interpreted along the line of his performance.
Dr Nara did extremely well as a Minister; he stressed however adding that the service of Nara can be better utilized within the party's organization.
Making his stand clear, IBohal said that there is not a single tainted CPI Minister and added that the party will not tolerate corruption.
Dr Nara, who was also present, opined that the cry raised against his non induction in the Ministry is a clear indication of the trust that the people repose in him.
The former Minister explained that he was left out from the Ministry as the party's high command wanted to utilise his service for the party.
