Imphal, July 24 2010:
Taking serious note of the alleged sexual harassment committed to Manipuri hockey player Th Ranjita Devi by national women team chief coach MK Kaushik, Manipur Students' Association Delhi (MSAD) urged the concerned authorities to take up necessary measures so that such unwanted incidents are not repeated in future.
Saying that the incident is not the first case of discrimination meted out to the players of Manipur, MSAD said that the incident is a challenge to Manipuri people as a whole.
Maintaining that mere resignation from the post of coach is not enough MSAD demanded Hockey India for penalising MK Kaushik for his indecent behaviour.
MSAD also deplored the defeat of Manipur in the pre-quarter final stage of the ongoing Santosh Trophy tournament.
The students body stressed on the need to find out whose mistake it was.
All Manipur Women Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) also decried the alleged sexual harassment of Th Ranjita Devi by her coach MK Kaushik.
Saying that the behaviour of the coach would hamper grooming of good players, AMAWOVA said that MK Kaushik is not competent to be a coach.
