According to disclosure by the locals, Okram Naba (56) s/o (L) Maimu and his younger brother O Surchandra's son namely Jasmin alias Biju (20) took away the four teenagers with the promise that they would be provided jobs.
It is informed that Bitanjit, Amarjit and Ronaldo were taken away on July 17 with Sidan leaving his home one day ahead of the trio.
When the four were taken away separately through the Imphal-Moreh route Naba identified himself as the maternal uncle of the boys whenever questions were raised.
The locals further confided that on July 17 when Ronaldo travelled along with Biju, apparently for Moreh, troops of 29 AR due to suspicion detained both and handed them over to Tengnoupal police station, whose verification process resulted in Ronaldo being handed over to his parent and Biju taken custody by Imphal Police personnel.
As whereabouts of three boys could not be provided, anxious parents accompanied by some locals approached Naba and Biju, with both assuring insisting that they would trace the missing trio.
With the agreed deadline to find the missing boys expiring at 4 pm today (July 24) although without any information, the mob went on the rampage and destroyed their houses, the local maintained while adding that neither were families of naba and Biju nor household properties found when the crowd went on the rampage.
A Thoubal police team arrived at the spot to control the situation going out of hand.
