A public meeting held at community hall of Wangoo Nongmaikhong Mapal in Thoubal District today discussed the grievances facing by the people of the state arising out of uncertainty on the free flow of essential commodities in the state.
The public meeting organized by Southern Rural Development Organisation, (SARDO) Wangoo was attended by Vice President HERICOUN, M Churamani , President, SARDO, L Deven and Wangoo Jilla Parishad Member Th Megharaj as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Secretary, SARDO, Th Nando observed that poor people are bearing burnt of price hike as a result of uncertainty prevailing on the two national highways.
He also lamented inaction on the part of the Government to bring down the prices of the essential commodities despite untold hardships facing by the common people asserting that traders selling essential commodities at high prices taking advantage of the prevailing situation.
At the same time, he also called upon the people to support initiative to convert the NH 53 as main lifeline of the state.
The Vice President HERICOUN, M Churamani also recalled the hardships given to the common people due to frequent imposition of economic blockade on the two national highways.
He also talked on the need for developing NH 53 as main lifeline.
On the occasion, member of USER Manipur Th Subash spoke on adverse impact of substance abuse in the society and General Secretary, MEEKHOL, M Nirmala spoke on the role of mothers in moulding a vibrant society.
