Kiphire, November 24:
The much awaited Kiphire District office of the BJP has been formally opened on Tuesday by State BJP Unit President MC Konyak.
Two Cabinet Ministers of the Party, Dr TM Lotha, Imtilemba Sangtam and hundred of party functionaries from the State, districts and well-wishers attended the opening program.
Konyak said many did not realize as to how the DAN came to power three years back in the State.
He said BJP was one of the main components in the DAN conglomerate and explained that the DAN Government was privileged in many ways because when it came to power in the State, like minded Government was at the helm of affairs at the Center.
The State BJP Chief said the then Vajpayee Government paid so much attention to the DAN Government because the 7 BJP Legislators including the one elected from here (Pungro-Kiphire) were in the DAN Government.
Konyak also said the concern for the people of Nagaland was physically shown by the Vajpayee Government.
And now people came to know whose party is concerned for the people of the State, he added.
He also hoped the party would be able to win one more seat from the 59 A/C in the district in the coming general election, and told the party workers to work hard for the same.
Dismissing the Congress charges that the BJP was Hindu Party, the BJP Chief recalled about the attempts of the then NDA Government at the Center for setting up Christians and minorities to become President of the nation.
But all these attempts were opposed by the Congress party, he said.
The people can judge about the BJPs secular credentials from the present countrys president, APJ Abdul Kalam, who is from minority community, he stated.
Speaking on the occasion, State Health and Family Welfare Minister and senior BJP leader Dr TM Lotha informed the gathering that whatever money used by the present DAN Government till now was the money given by the Vajpayee Government in the form of Rs 365 crore as one time grant and Rs 1050 crore as economic package.
Had this money (one time grant and economic package) not been given to the State, what would have been the health of the State and its people by now, he pointed out.
Stating that though NDA was out of power but still remained as largest and formable political force in the country, Dr Lotha said no any other PMs of the country gave such economic packages except Vajpayee.
The Prime Minister of the present Congress-led UPA Government at the Center has not given any economic packages to the State so far, he stated, adding, This clearly proves their sensitivities towards the State. Transport Minister Imtilemba, and party leaders from the district also spoke on the occasion.
