Manipur Police sports Club (MPSC) defeated Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) 7-5 via the tie breaker to wrest the 2nd AMFA Futsal Cup Football Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
Penalty shoot-out had to be applied to decide the winner as normal period ended with both sides scoring two goals each.
While MPSC players succeeded in beating the TRAU custodian five times out of allotted number of five only three opponent players managed to squeeze the ball into the police net with L Bisheshore's third attempt going out thereby making the fifth attempt unnecessary.
The penalty scorer for MPSC are Th Rohen, O Bankimchandra, Y Deepak, P Romesh and S Rojen.
In contrast, only N Shyamananda, O Sanatomba and N Indrakumar converted their attempts into goal.
Earlier, during normal period TRAU took the lead through L Bisheshore in the 10th minute followed by the police equalizer with a 16 minute header from Th Rohen.
After the change of ends, MPSC increased the score to 2-1 with Nabin Rai finding the mark in the 26th as Y Deepak's powerfully struck free kick ricocheted from the police defence wall and landed into the net for the TRAU equalizer in the 31st minute.
The winners received Rs 5000 and the running trophy with runners-up TRAU having to content with the Rs 3000 cash prize and a trophy.
The Fair Play trophy carrying Rs 1000 was bagged by SSU, Singjamei.
AMFA president A Santoshkumar Singh and tournament chairman KC Sharma graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and president respectively.
