Imphal, May 14 2011:
Parents of upcoming football players have cast serious doubt over the authenticity of medical checkup test conducted to select players for a stint at the reputed Manchester united Football Club of England.
Speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club today, parents and family elders of Social Welfare Club, Heirangoithong players said under the aegis of All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) medical test to select under-15 team members of the Club for the training cum competition stint at Manchester United was conducted at Sapam X-ray clinic.
Out of 26 SWC players who underwent the medical test only nine were declared eligible thereby invalidating the Club due to inadequate team strength, the parents informed while confiding that when authorities concerned were approached to furnish the medical test report the proposal failed to evoke any positive response.
Further informing that most of the SWC players were declared to be 17 years of age as per result of the medical test, the parents described the test outcome as ridiculous with the assertion that the same players were team members of the Club that had participated in an under-15 tournament organised by AMFA in January this year.
While ruing the missed opportunity of young players to further hone their skill at the famous club (Manchester United), the parents expressed hope that future age-proof test would be genuinely conducted and in a fair manner.
