Two engaged in money transfer of UGs held

Police have now got a clue of operatives of the proscribed People Liberation Army (PLA) transacting money through students studying outside the state when they arrested two cadres of the outfit allegedly involved in the transaction of money through a bank account.
Police commandos on Thursday evening apprehended a PLA cadre identified as Kshetrimayum Nilakanta aka Mangal Singh (36) of Langjing Achouba from Andro parking.
In a follow up to the disclosure, a woman cadre identified as Maibam Jini Devi (22) daughter M Kamal was arrested from her residence at Kwakeithel on the same day.
One pass book issued by the State Bank of India along with three cheque books was recovered from her custody.
Admitting that she is an active member of the outfit, she admitted that her SBI debit card is used by her younger sister, Nisha Devi, presently undergoing nursing training at Down Town Hospital, Guwahati for depositing money to the account of PLA cadres who are staying in the city.
During interrogation of Nilakanta, police came to know that he used to deposit money extorted in the name of the outfit from government officials, businessmen and others to SBI account no.30874674369 opened in the name Jini for onward transfer to the operatives of outfit.
Nilankanta who has been working actively for the outlaw outfit since 2008 was arrested during a normal frisking and checking operation by Imphal East district police commandos on Thursday evening, around 6.30 pm.
He is presently working under one Puwangba of the outfit, police said.
In other operations, two members of the Naga National Council (NNC) and a woman cadre of the PREPAK outfit were apprehended by police commandos from separate places.
The NNC cadres, Daileemai (39) son of Willson of Liyaii village of Senapati district presently residing at Kohima of Nagaland and Kenedy (30) son of Doho of Thingba Khullen of Senapati were apprehend by a team of Imphal East district police commandos from the inter-village road at Lei-ingkhol near the foothill of Chingmeirong yesterday around 11.30 am.
A demand letter of the "Office of the Commander 10th Battalion, 4th BDE S/C Naga Army, Federal Government of Nagaland" demanding ' 3,00,000 was recovered from their possession, police said Saturday.
The woman PREPAK cadre identified as Thounaojam Bhanu aka Remina Devi (38) wife of Th Noren of Nambol Kongkham Awang Leikai presently residing at Nambol Makha was arrested by a team of Bishnupur district police commandos in the early hours of Thursday.
Ten 9 mm live rounds were recovered from her possession, police said.
Another woman activist of the KCP (MC)-Nongdrenkhomba was arrested by a combined team of Imphal West police commandos and troops of B-coy, 116 Bn BSF yesterday around 5.30 pm during an operation at Ghari Ningombam Lamkhai near a bus stand.
Leishangthem Sumobati (34) wife of L Boby of Nambol Kongkham Awang Leikai has been alleged of working for the group for the last two years and involved in the extortion of money, a statement of the Imphal West Senior SP said.
