With a rich haul of 28 medals including 15 gold and eight silver, Manipur clinched the overall team champion title of the 7th National Amateur Muaythai Championship held at Bangalore from May 27 till 31, informed Manipur Amateur Muay Thai Association in a release.
The State team was led by Md Alauddin Shah and AK Mustafa as coach and manager respectively.
Manipur's closest opponent in the championship was Chattisgarh with 11 gold, 11 silver and two bronze medals while Karnataka secured the third position with a tally of 11 medals including seven gold and two silvers.
muaythai athletes from ten states competed in the championship that offered a total of 91 medals comprising of 51 gold, 28 silver and 12 bronze.
