Three players from the 11-Member Indian MuayThai Team got bronze medals on the 7th day of the ongoing World Cup MuayThai Championship here at the Mall Convention Center today.
Nagaland?s Bendangjungla and Manipur?s L Suraj and L Jandhobi Devi got bronze medals today.
Bedangjungla and Jandhobi got bronze medals in the MuayThai Waikru competition, while Chinese and Meccau girls got gold and silver medals respectively.
Waikru is part of the MuayThai and it was introduced this time in the World Cup MuayThai Championship here as a medal sports.
Suraj (57 kg) played in the junior (male) and was placed in the third position, while Agakerimon of Russia and Acam Galili of Israel got gold and silver medals respectively.
This is the second time for both Jandhobi and Badangjungla winning third positions in the World Cup MuayThai series.
Jandhobi won bonze medal in 2003 World Cup MuayThai Championship at Almaty, Kazakhstan while Bendangjungla in 2004 World Cup MuayThai Championship in Bangkok.
It may be mentioned that the 11-Member Indian MuayThai Team for this ongoing World Cup MuayThai Championship which began from May 31 last was led by Oken Jeet Sandham, President of the MuayThai Federation of India.
They are Bandangakum (player), Bendangjungla (player), Angyei (player), L Suraj (player), S Ningtamba (player), N Premjit (player), N Bidyarani (player), L Jandhobi (player), L Thoiba (Coach) and Aneile Kenye (Assistant Team Manager).
Thoiba and Jandhobi also took Referee and Judges Courses this time conducted under the International Federation of Amateur MuayThai (IFMA) here.
