Despite all out effort of the State Government to avert imposition of economic blockade on the imphal-Dimapur National Highway 39 the agitation is all set to be launched from mid-night today.
Failure to prevent the blockade call is said to be the inaction of the Govt regarding replacement of four teachers in the North Autonomous District Council, Senapati with local candidates as was demanded by Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA).
according to SDSA's general secretary Jonah Mao, contrary to the student body's demand Additional Director (Hills) of Schools Education today forwarded an order regarding revocation of appointments of four persons.
The serial numbers mentioned in the order is said to be 7, 10, 15 and 31 with the adage 'until further order', informed Jonah.
SDSA is demanding appointment of only local candidates to the teachers' posts.
One arrested along with drugs : Personnel of Narcotic Cell, Imphal West District Police have seized a large quantity of illegal drugs and arrested a person in this connection during a drive today.
Md Salimuddin (28) son of late Md Aji was arrested from near Hotel Anand at Babupara and a total of 216 strips of SP tablets, 6 strips of Nitrosun tablet and 6 bottles of Ricodex (cough syrup) were seized from his possession, said police sources.
