SSU recorded the highest victory margin so far in the ongoing 4th Manipur State League Football Tournament when the Singjamei side routed ESU, Wangkhei 8-0 in a second leg match at Khuman Lampak Main stadium today.
In the day other match, TRAU, Kwakeithel scored on either side of the half to defeat host MPSC 2-1 .
After M Sanatomba opened score in the 16th minute SSU rained goals at regular interval against a dis-oriented ESU team, who had won the first leg home tie at 2-1 margin.
SSU raced to a 4-0 lead by the break with E Abocha (27th) and Ng Jitkumar's brace (39th/P,41st) finding the mark.
There was no respite for ESU as same number of goals were added to the SSU tally when L Basu scored in the 51st minute, Md Sahidur too joined the goal feast with a 63rd minute strike, Basu struck his second of the match in the 71st and Abocha rounded off the emphatic win with his second goal in injury time.
Earlier in the day, TRAU went ahead when Th Itomba converted a penalty award 14 minutes into the match which the police side neutralised four minutes later in similar style as the match official penalised S Jimmy Carter for handling the ball inside the restricted zone.
However, Itomba guaranteed his team full points with an 86th minute header from an L Bikram corner.
TRAU had won the first leg tie by a solitary goal.
