Imphal, January 13 2010:
A martyrs' day of the Anal community, Phethani 2010 was observed on January 12 at Ruwng Chang, Chakpikarong in Chandel district under the aegis of Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA).
Rev Sumpi John of Dimapur presided over the observance programme.
Delivering a speech on the observance of Phethani, convenor of the programme committee, TS Warngam said that the Anals are settled in India and Myanmar.
The Anal is also one of the 34 communities settled in Manipur.
The ones who sacrificed and suffered for the welfare of the Anal community are known as Phetha.
He said, the day has been observed to show respect to the phethas.
Students from class VIII to X who shine bright in their examinations were honoured on the occasion.
