Imphal, January 13 2010:
Phethani (Anal Patriots' Day) was observed under the aegis of Anal Naga Tribe Association (ANTA) at Ruwngchang village in Chakpikarong yesterday.
Observed under the theme of 'Ihlu riim ki phung valna' (most renown festival of Anal), erecting memorial stone in honour of all the brave men and women of Anal community, felicitation of noted individuals who have made significant contribution in various fields and presentation of cultural dances and folk songs were some of the main highlights of the event.
The observance began along with hoisting of the Phethani flag by Rev Sumpi John of Anal Vansum, Dimapur and unveiling the memorial stone of the departed brave
men and women.

Speaking at the occasion attended by leaders of various communities as well, Rev Sumpi John appreciated the efforts made by departed forefathers of Anal community towards promotion and preserving the Anal culture and called upon the younger generation to follow the footsteps of their forefathers.
In continuation of the observance, many cultural troupes presented dances even as noted Anal singers rendered folk songs.
Indigenous games and sports of the Anal community were also showcased at the occasion.
Prizes were also distributed among the winners of the literary competition held on the theme of the observance.
