Mary Kom honoured as 'Real Heroes' by CNN-IBN

The award presented to the three times Women's World Boxing Championship winner at Oberoi Hotel in Mumbai is informed to be in recognition of her contribution towards grooming boxers of repute besides her personnel exploits and achievement in the square ring.
Mary Kom was among 24 Indians who were honoured for their contribution in the field of social work, development of sports and coaching activities.
Interacting with newspersons at her langol residence this morning, Mary Kom earlier honoured with the Arjuna Award (2003) and Padma Shree Award (2005), confided that she is physically and mentally prepared to take on the best in the Asian Women's Boxing Championship in September and World Championship in November, this year.
Mary Kom married K Onkholer in 2005 and is mother of twin sons.
Since her golden debut in the then Calcutta nationals in the onset of the new millenium, the dimunitive but hard punching Mary Kom has nine gold medals in her kitty and over 10 of the yellow metal from international level competitions so far.
The world beater in the 46 kg category was born on March 1, 1983 to Mangte Tonpa Kom and Mangte Saneikham Kom.
