Antique coins and ornaments, found in the Iril River in Imphal East by two fishermen few days back have been displayed to media persons on Friday at Pungdongbam Mayai Leikai under Lamlai PS in Imphal East.
The coins and ornaments have been found by two fishermen of the locality�Lambalmayum Birla (48) and Thangjam Jugeshore (44)�on April 14 while fishing in the river.
The fishermen have also found some empty cases of bullet along with the ornaments.
The antiques includes '2 Anna' wherein Queen Victoria's head has been inscribed, and other ornamental items like ring and coins of distinct types.
Interacting with media persons on Friday, the two proud owners of the 'treasure' expressed their desires to keep them in their possession for religious purposes instead of giving it to the state archaeological department.
