NEROCA, Laipham Khunou outplayed TRUGPU, Nambol 3-0 as Nagaland Police and NISA, Thangmeiband split points after an absorbing 2-2 draw in quarter final league matches of the 50th CC Meet tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
In a Group R tie, NEROCA opened its score with a sixth minute strike from Sabir shah off an S Manglemjao cross as K Ajitkumar doubled the lead in the 29th minute and Manglemjao's 60th minute header completed the TRUGPU rout.
The Nambol missed a sitter to redeem some pride in the match but N Itocha's goal-bound shot moments before the half time whistle hit the cross-piece and went out of play.
Compared to the lopsided contest, the Nagaland Police and NISA game saw fortune tilt from one side to the other as the former took the lead with the game only three minutes old through Vizoru that remained unchallenged till the end of first second.
However, NISA came out with determination after the break and restored parity when N Momocha headed home in the 52nd off a Kh Kiran pass.
The provider became the scorer in the 77th minute connecting a Th Premjit free kick from near the centre-line.
NISA got the free-kick after Belie Rio handled the ball.
Defensive error cost the Thangmeiband outfit dearly as Rallungpau unleashed a powerful shot from close range with only four minutes of regulation time on the clock.
Meanwhile, tournament organisers AMFA has suspended Th Pravinkumar and S Heman of ESU, Wangkhei for two matches for the duo's 'misconduct and offensive behaviour' towards the match officials in yesterday's ESU versus Kolasip District XI tie.
AMFA has also imposed a penalty of Rs 5000 against the Wangkhei side whose players collected four yellow cards and a marching order during the same match.
